"Waahhh....", your exhausted, you stumble through the pitch black room, knock your knees and find the bottle to stop your baby crying. This scene is played over and over in alot of new parents home's each and every night. Fortunately for you, there are ways to fix this so you can get a good nights sleep and stop pulling your hair out!
So how do we do it?
To have the best chance of stopping your toddler waking up at night you need to implement a sleeping routine. Creating a routine will make it much easier for you to put your baby to sleep at night, every night and be able to get a solid sleep through the night. A pre-sleep routine can consist of anything, from bath time to reading stories, I'll give you an example of a 5 step routine that works quite effectively.
1. Give your baby a nice relaxing bath.
2. Now it's time for a feed and burp.
3. At this point you want to get your baby to start feeling sleepy, you can read stories or just cuddle for a little while.
4. When your toddler is getting sleepy, place him/her where you want them to sleep while they're still awake.
5. Let him drift off to sleep by himself.
It's important to train your toddler to fall asleep by himself. This way when he wakes up during the night, he won't have to cry and rely on you to get him back to sleep. This is the best way to stop your toddler night waking.
